This past weekend we had a teacher rally. In honor of national teacher day the school sponsored a trip for teachers to a resort on the Moon River. About 60 or more teachers piled into numbered cars and departed on what would normally be an hour drive. However, along the way we stopped several times, taking photographs, perusing a Buddhist gong shop, visiting a temple, playing musical chairs, eating lunch, and exploring a small market. For some reason I always have a fascination with the markets and the piles of food for sale.
After arriving at the resort we had a couple hours to relax and then the party began. While some people dressed in a traditional country garb many others wore bright colored clothes reminiscent of the 1960s and 1970s. The party was an absolute delight with great food, wonderful dancing, funny teacher skits, and the always present karaoke. They love their karaoke. It was an incredibly fun time. The following photographs show our driving group, some of the places we stopped, and the ensuing party.
This looks like great fun for everyone. I'm always impressed that everyone looks so friendly. Of course, they're having their pictures taken so they're smiling but they look genuine, not forced. Hope you gave the gong a good hit to get a nice loud sound.

I think that the markets give a good overview of the culture, so not surprised with your attraction to them. As well, they seem to be so colorful and a good place in which to lose yourself and become immersed in the local life. So keep enjoying them!
